The McCall Winter Festival
Each year dad took us to McCall Idaho for either summer adventures or winter festivities. At the Winter Carnival dad toured us around the huge and delicate snow and ice sculptures.
There were tiny snowmobiles we could rent from the condo. Dad would get the smaller sleds for us kids and we would ride double down the lanes until we would run out of gas! Mom and Dad were the big sled and had to pull us out of snowbanks because of our reckless driving!
Winter Fun
With the determination of his daughters and the muscle of their dad, the Johnson house would often have a winter front
yard that would have the whole neighborhood talking! Giant snowmen, huge snow forts, and painted dragons were just a few of the snow creations that dad helped us proudly build.
And way back when, dad sent us flying across the white countryside with our engines roaring and we sailed across the wide open frozen lake in McCall. What memories those days hold. I still remember sitting in Science class on a day following a McCall weekend and realizing that my thumb was sore from pushing on the gas of the snowmobile and smiling quietly to myself about all the fun I had!
Winters in McCall are a big family tradition. Watching the Snow Parade with all of the crazy floats and catching the candy and beads is a blast!

We get all bundled up and prepare for a day walking through the snowy town looking at sculptures and enjoying being together.
Julie & Jared's family proudly pose in front of an Indian village at Winter Carnival. So cute!!!
Making snowmen and having snow fights are the best! Grandpa always makes sure we get up to the mountains in the wintertime to enjoy the snow!
It's a generational thing now....the younger generation still enjoying freezing to death just to see more snow sculptures.
Grandpa & Grandma spent a few Christmases in McCall with Terry & Sheri. They are getting ready for the Cole kids to come down the stairs and see what Santa has brought. Look how excited and happy they are!! Just like kids on Christmas morning !!:) -Sheri
Exchanging gifts brings lots of hugs from Justin!
